Stumbleupon: My story so far…
If you're new here, you may want to browse my articles and if you like them please subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Stumbleupon came to my attention along time ago but i never really put in any effort before the start of October when i did a post called Stumbleupon- simple tips to increased traffic. Since then it’s changed my blog, i have gained huge amounts of traffic for a little amount of extra work. As its been 3 weeks since i did my earlier post it’s time for a recap and review of Stumbleupon.
What happened in last 3weeks?
You heard it from many people before, they all claim to get hundreds if not thousands of page views a day, i was a little skeptical to start with but now after 3 weeks i can truly say it works. My total visitors has increased no end since this month started and my top stumble post actually got 1186 hits, and my top 5 stumbled posts achieved 2370. So for the average blogger who’s looking for visitors his will help you for your alexa.

So What have I learnt?
- The time of the day can affect the results of your stumble, the key is here to hit the maximum users when you stumble. Try and get both Europe and American online at the same time. Probably the best time is around late morning Pacific time which means you catch the Europeans after work hours or 8-0pm EST in USA, by using these times you have more chance of reaching your audience.
- Stumble in Groups, this works well if you and your friends work closely to stumble one another daily. By viewing each other articles and stumbling you and your friends will continue to receive regular traffic though these stumbles.
- Quantity over short time is better than a bigger quantity over longer period. For better results you need to get the thumbs up done over a quick time frame, by getting a quick 5 thumbs will probably do better than 10 over 24 hours.
- Don’t be a selfish stumbler and spread the love, the more you stumble people the more likely you will receive good thumbs and greater traffic. Stumbleupon actually weights a stumble depending on the originator authority within Stumbleupon, which is marked by the number of stumbles made. This is one area i will work on over the next few weeks to optimize my stumbling.
- As with most socializing sites, you need to socialize and by gaining friends you are more likely will stumble your site. Genrally enjoy your experience on stumbleupon and don’t just do for the sake of it…
- Another way to share you posts with others is to use the “send to” button on the toolbar (which is next too the thumbs down button).By clicking on the button you will send a site that you feel is worth a mention to your friends so be sure to add all your friends. To add a friend find their address which looks like this http://yeepage.stumbleupon.com. so if you can please add me to your friends then we can share the stumbles…
- Lastly you can gain more exposure and do a lot of back scratching inside forums, currently i have found two, stumblexchange and lovesickalien, by posting your URL, tags etc people will stumble you, but return you need too stumble all the people in the list too.

stumbleupon users are friendly, understanding, caring and kind…if you know what i mean..haha!
yups SU really drive traffics if you know how to bait it and make other stumble! you. I enjoyed to stumble! any interesting post that other should know about it (sharing is caring). But that doesn’t mean we should stumble all the crap post.
Well, that’s about the quantity of the traffic.
What about the quality of the traffic?
I don’t think it’s targeted.
I’m a big fan of stumble upon myself. I just haven’t incorporated it into my site yet:
Entering Contests
Hope you check it out
I’ll try this out. I’ll join the forum sites of stumblexchange and lovesickalien. Thanks for the info.
Stumbleupon has been kind to our site thus far. although we are not members of Stumbleupon, but twice so far somebody “Stumbleupon” our article and added it to the community bringing traffic our way.
Different timing allows you to attract different group of stumblers, exposure may be limited but you get new crowds!
I actually formulate a http://www.etienneteo.com/ultimate-strategic-stumbleupon-bible.html which comprises of many blogger’s work which will help you in optimizing your stumbles better, like what is the best time to stumble internationally, where can i find great articles to stumble, who should i like for to stumble and etc…
I have never tried using StumbleUpon to drive traffic to my sitebut reading your site I think I may give it a try later. One of the things that has so far stopped me from using it to be honest is the fact that last time I looked I couldnt find a browser toolbar for Safari ? Anyone know of one ?
Cheers

Yea, I saw that one already. Unfortunately the link it refers you to no longer exists…

I haven’t been very lucky with stumbleupon but I’m adding you as a friend and I do have the toolbar.
homemum,
i have justed returned favour and added you too.
I also experience a surge in traffic too. Here is my own testimonial: Proven Way to Gain Huge Traffic - StumbleUpon.
But I’m getting little-to-none traffic from StumbleUpon now because I stopped stumbling myself. I stopped after finish writing 10 Must-read Articles to Become an Expert Stumbler because it’s too risky. It’s risky to label yourself spammer. Maybe I’m just too careful?
I only just found your article on stumbleupon. Some great info in there.
Of course you can feel free to drop in and stumble one or two of my posts.
Great article there. Stumbled!
However, stumblexchange doesn’t seem to be working. Has it been inactivated?
@CK
Just been to their site and it seems ok from here.
