It’s that time and it’s been a long time in coming, since I added my first contest to my blog on 1st November which I dubbed “My Dreaded 1st Contest”. I called it the dreaded 1st as I had no idea whether anyone would join my comment contest which finally finished on 21st December running for a total of 50 days.
I can now say My Dreaded 1st Contest was a great success as we have seen a lot of action on my blog with some great comments from many of my readers I wish that I could thank everyone but my post would be massive. When I started my blog had only 192 comments who would of thought my comment contest could finish with 492 comments thats exactly 300 comments in 50 days working out at 6 per day (God i am pleased the numbers were simply to work out).
So down to the important bits, the winner who made the 400th comment, and will recieve the $40 to their paypal account. By using the Wordpress control panel we able to find the 92nd comment which will make it the 400th one. So the winner is Binh Nguyen from Binh.name.
For part two of my comment contest, you had to write 100 words on my blog and the comment contest itself with several links. So by using Random.org we got the winner who also will receive $40 into their paypal.
So the winner is : Reviewow
I will drop a email to the two winners for their Paypal accounts and forward the money.
Lastly I like thank everybody again who joined my contest and hope you all will keep commenting on my blog as comments are what makes a blog tick.
So now I have completed my dreaded 1st contest with success , What should by my next contest?

Congrats to the winners Binh Nguyen and Reviewwow.. So, Simon you had to give away $90 in all.. Pretty good returns for the $90 you spent, right ?
Also when i see the comments number was at 492, i can’t but feel a little bad about it, if only i had stretched my commenting a little further on the last day .. So close yet so far…

Generally my statistics improved, covering area such as comments, traffic, technorati and other blog indicators, but i could of picked a better contest to increase these.
My aim was to generally get more people to participate in my blog, and try build a community spirit/awareness where we all can discuss my topics with the aid of comments.
I did think we would hit over 500 comments when you added yours at last minute and i do hope you will continue to add your valuable comments

Thank you, Simon, for running this contest. From the first time I arrived at your blog back in the creation of Binh dot Name I liked your writing so much that I become your loyal reader. I’m so glad you did visit my blog sometimes, too.
I still am too busy with learning how to blog and haven’t officially launch my own blog. When I do, I sure will make contested similar to yours. I intended to make my blog a placeholder for me to help non-tech-knowledge bloggers and website builders. I created a Help page just so people can ask me for help.
I’d write too much so I should stop here otherwise it will feel your page.
Sum up, I would like to thank you for your generous give-away prize. $40 sure helps me to pay off 8 months hosting.

This contest idea was a lot better than a lot of other contests i’ve seen, most contests are aimed at increasing RSS readership. But the numbers gained through contests are not quality readers who check back so frequently, i guess you realised that and thought up a contest to reward the commenters..
Kudos to you, and i sure will continue to participate in your blog, yours was the first blog i read when i started blogging, so i guess i’ll stick around for sometime.
Working overtime on my personal blog, had a post about a controversial topic in my country, reservation in educations institutions, the response has been pretty good, learning a few stuff and implementing it. I should start using social bookmarking more, and ofcourse my next aim to to start sponsored posting to make a few bucks ..
All this is possible only with ideas from blogs like yours .. So keep churning out the good stuff..
