How often you check your statistics?

If you're new here, you may want to browse my articles and if you like them please subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

When I started blogging I early this year I would check my statistics daily ,infact more than once a day until I got too obsessed with them I hardly spent time doing research into posts. I just loved watching my numbers grow form 10 to 20 to 100 and so on and would just watch them go throughout the day then I would login at the end of the day to see the final day’s total.I could quick easily spend 30mins to one hour everyday which added up to over 15 hours or maybe closer to 25 hours a month watching numbers.

We all understand that studying the numbers is good as it will gauge your progress and activity on your site but we need do it correctly and not obsessively. Try developing your own schedule when you will check statistics and stick with it and not sneak the odd look here or there in between. Studying carefully what you want look at and don’t blindly look at all statistics as must mean nothing to you.

So you may be asking what is the correct frequency for checking stats?

There no hard and fast number but just do it sensibly to ensure you spend the right on your blog or with your family. Whether you need check daily, weekly or even monthly you can decide what’s right….

Currently I check every 3 days to allow any bumps or dips to even out, but you may be more frequent.

Let me know how often you check your statistics

I check once a day, enough to know where my blog reader come from and what drive them to my site.

Hehe, like you were describing my self. Since I am a startup too, I tend to watch those figures pretty often - probably too often - in hope they’ll suddenly start to go up more seriously and much faster.

      Interesting article.

Being new to blogging, my site is about 5-6 weeks old and I check Analytics & feedburner everyday to see where visitors are coming from. As I experiment with traffic sources I think it’s mportant to stay on top of it.

Since I’m a new blogger, I pretty much check everyday (only to see I haven’t improved that much).
I also need to check everyday because I need to get used to all the different sites that show stats..so that when I won’t need to check often, I won’t have to go through my email to remember all the sites I’m in.

But my average stats browsing time comes to around 2 hours a week approx …
