Google adsense section targetingHave you realized that Google Adsense always seem to be no related adverts on your blog?

Odds are Google is unclear to what is your keywords and it getting distracted by all your irrelevant words in your sidebar or footer. As a result your click though rate (CTR) is very low.

Most visitors will not click on Adsense ads if there completely different topic to what there reading about, to improve the quality of your targeted ads you should use Section Targeting which you can instruct Google to ignore or emphasize certain sections of your website your blog.

Use the HTML tags to emphasize a section of your blog.

<!– google_ad_section_start –>
This is the section that you like emphasize to adsense bot.
<!– google_ad_section_end –>

Use the HTML tags to ignore a section of your blog ( good for your sidebar or footer).

<!– google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) –>
This is the section that you like ignore by adsense bot.
<!– google_ad_section_end –>

An Example of where to put

With these tags added to your HTML code, your final code may look like the following:

<html><head><title>Section targeting</title></head>
<body>
<!– google_ad_section_start –>
This is the text of your webpage. Most of your content resides here.
<!– google_ad_section_end –>
</body>
</html>

Adding these codes within your HTML code is fairly straight forward and it will tell Google which parts to see and not see when searching with the adsense bot. Google mentions that it may take up to 2 weeks for results to be noticed.

Google also states that “In order to properly implement this feature, you’ll need to include a significant amount of content within the section targeting tags. Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or PSAs”.

Little tip if your adding this code to a blog, exclude your comments section too.

      Ya I still cannot figure it myself why the ads are not targeted to the content. My site is about making money so it is going to have a lot of information or ways how to make money. So it will be about adsense, ebay or making money with blog. but most of the ads is about general ads like work at home. so whenever we go from page to page the ads would be almost the same. I think I should try what are you saying here. hopefully it works. Thanks for info.

      Adsense is confusing… Google prohibits creating websites and pages strictly to display ads but they allow codes to add weight or subtract weight… this code will make similar to music recordings: 1 good song …the other songs are just fillers… webpages will have 1 good area targeted at high paying keywords … the rest of the page is 1 big run on sentence….

      but I will admit this is a nice trick …
